Canvas Fabric

If you need to do something that requires a strong fabric, whether it's making baggage, clothing, or for outdoor use, chances are you'll want to go with canvas fabric for your needs. Canvas has been around for a long time, long enough for it to be considered one of the great time-tested fabrics that can be depended on to do what it is called upon. It is strong, much stronger than its light weight would suggest, and it holds up well to the elements, including rain, wind, and sun. It is also easy to take care of, being made of cotton, and can be rolled or folded for storage. And properly treated, canvas will outlast most other fabrics used for the same application.

Some of the most popular uses for canvas today are for bags, such as the eco-friendly bags more and more people are bringing with them to grocery stores in lieu of consuming paper or plastic bags. But even before these bags became somewhat trendy, canvas was used for duffel bags, backpacks, and all sorts of other bags that needed to be strong and light. These same qualities have made canvas a natural choice when it comes to footwear, with canvas shoes still a popular choice with all members of the population. Besides these qualities, canvas also tends to impart a simple, natural look to whatever it's used in. It is an unpretentious, functional material that is always in style.

Artists have always loved canvas, and they remain faithful to it even today as the material of choice for paintings. Canvas can be stretched taut without tearing and still keep its shape, making for a good flat surface for painting. The colors of the paint also retain their clarity and don't run with canvas. Where would painters and art lovers be without this marvelous material?

Resistance to the elements is of course why canvas has always been the preferred material when it comes to sails for sailboats and ships. Even with the invention of new, more lightweight materials that also have excellent strength properties, canvas remains the most popular material for sails. It is easy to handle and resists ripping, plus can be more easily repaired than many other materials. It doesn't look like it will go out of style anytime soon when it comes to being used for sails.

5 Top Stroller Companies That Happen To Make Them In Pink

!9# 5 Top Stroller Companies That Happen To Make Them In Pink

[if ]

With all the clothing, shoes, blankets, and virtually everything you can find offered in pink for baby girls, finding a pink stroller shouldn't be that difficult of a task, right? Actually it is surprisingly difficult with many companies offering lots of red but precious little pink. Following are 5 companies who have done it right and offer pink strollers for the little girls in your life.

Graco - A big name in the world of travel systems, or car seats that can snap into the stroller frame, Graco offers 2 travel systems in pink, however one of them is exclusive to BabiesRUs. The Stylus can only be found there while the Alano is widely available, both as a travel system and as a standalone stroller. Also, the Microlite Jessa is perfect for those looking for an ultra-girly stroller. It's even got pink ruffles.

Bugaboo - One of the favorites of the folks at Essential Baby Things, the Bugaboo Bee has been redesigned for 2010. Although not everyone is fond of losing that enormous sunshade for something more compact, it does offer a few advances over its predecessors. One of those things is the option of getting it in pink, something the original did not offer at first.

Maclaren - although more conservative looking than the Bugaboos, Maclaren's strollers are just as fashionable without all the expense as many of some of the more modern looking strollers. However if you're looking for a pink Maclaren, the pickings are rather slim as they only offer three strollers in anything close to pink. The Juicy Couture and the Techno XLR blend the nice pink with a miserable brown for something, well, unattractive, while the Quest Sport mixes pink with a nice charcoal grey and comes of looking very smart indeed.

Quinny - At first glance, similar to many of the modern aluminum framed strollers on the market, Quinny makes an excellent stroller. The entire lineup consists of the Buzz 3, Buzz 4, Zapp, Zapp Twine, Speedi and Senzz models. All are available in pink except the Speedi and the Senzz. That means if you like their style, you've got a good shot at finding a pink one to match your style.

Bumbleride - the great stroller with the funny name, Bumbleride makes a good quality stroller that can handle pretty much any abuse you can dish out. Their all-terrain model, the Indie, and its double stroller counterpart, the Indie Twin, offer 3 big wheels. The front one swivels for maneuverability. Also offering the Flite and the Flyer, two urban-geared models, Bumbleride offers everything listed here in pink.

Although this list was for 5 pink strollers, many companies that should have been on the list didn't qualify because they didn't offer a pink model in their lineup at all. A pink stroller should be standard for stroller companies.

The Bugaboo Bee Stroller

!9# The Bugaboo Bee Stroller

Bugaboo, arguably one of the true innovators in the stroller industry, will be launching the Bee in the latter part of August 2007. The launch of the Bugaboo Bee Stroller will be accompanied by much hype and fanfare. When the Cameleon and Gecko were launched there was an incredible level excitement and anticipation. This is a credit to Bugaboo's masterful use of the media. These strollers were clearly variations on the Frog design, and not a new creation. The Bee is a completely new design and therefore considerably more significant than the addition of the Cameleon and Gecko to the Bugaboo line. Bugaboo has a lot riding on this new stroller, hence the media blitz surrounding the launch of this stroller will be unparalleled. The Bee will be seen in Times Square on the Router Board for the entire month of September! The Bee will show up in countless magazines and publications everywhere! No other stroller to date will have such a prominent launch. This is definitely a red carpet event for Bugaboo.

The question that must be on everyones mind at this point is does the stroller really offer anything significant? Is this simply much ado about nothing? The Bee definitely has less to offer than it's predecessors. The Bee weighs less than it's Bugaboo siblings weighing in at 17 Lbs (similar to the weight of many umbrella strollers) making the bee far easier to carry around. The Bee is less of a financial burden with a price of 9.00. The Bee is less of a hassle as well. I say this because it offers a one piece fold (a first for the Bugaboo line). The Bee also has foam tires accompanied by a 4 wheel independent spring suspension system providing the smooth ride expected of a stroller of this caliber, without the possibility of a flat tire. Once again less hassle. The Bee is only 20 inches wide making it the sports car of the Bugaboo line. Zipping through the tightest of urban situations is one of the Bee's forte's!

One may suspect the Bee to be a stripped down bare bones stroller due to the lower price. That simply is not true. The Bee offers many things it's counterparts simply do not have. A perfect example of this is the telescopic push handle that allows the vertically challenged as well as the tallest of the tall to comfortably glide along. You may mention that the Cameleon has this feature as well which it does; however, the Bee has a new less cumbersome locking system that makes locking in your preferred height a snap! The Bee also has an adjustable seat base that none of the Bugaboo's offer. When your child is little the seat base adjusts in so their knees can bend and fit properly. When the child grows you can pull out the base so it continues to fit you child comfortably. The seat can also face forward or face Mom and Dad. The seat also has 4 positions, including a flat position suitable for a newborn. The canopy is large and color options abound! I have learned that Bugaboo is not offering the option of buying other color canopies, so one needs to chose a color they are willing to live with long term. While the Yellow may seem appealing especially for the "Bee" it may not be ideal over time as dirt is certain to show rather prominently with wear.

The Bee comes equipped with a Rain Cover, Under Seat Basket, DVD and a 2 year Warranty. The available accessories are the Baby Nest which offers enhanced support for infants, Footmuffs, Parasols,

Diaper Bags, Breezy Sun Canopy, Sunshade, Car seat Adaptors for Peg Perego, Graco and Maxi Cosi car seats, Cup Holder, and Transport Bag.

Bugaboo has a lot riding on this little stroller and Bugaboo has put a lot of innovation and convenience into the Bee. Bugaboo has been, and obviously continues to be, the standard by which all strollers are measured.

Baby Settling Tips For a Happy Baby

!9# Baby Settling Tips For a Happy Baby

[if ]
[endif]

Here are some ways to keep your newborn baby happy and settled. It can be stressful to watch your baby crying uncontrollably and you don't know why their crying. Hunger and medical health aside it could be that they are uncomfortable. Try these six tips for a happy baby.

1. Check temperature

Especially in the first few weeks your baby is used to a warm environment in the womb and they can get very cold in the first 24 hours. Depending on the time of year you may need more or less layers of clothing i.e.; beanie, bunny rugs or just a singlet and muslin rug, a light cotton rug. You can check the temperature behind the neck or under their arms. When they are a little bit older, a general rule of thumb is for bubs to have an extra layer of clothing than mum or dad. Don't forget the beanie or sun hat.

2. Signs of wind

Sometimes a way to tell if your baby has to burp is look at the top of the mouth (between the top lip and nose) this area becomes ever so slightly grey/blue in colors. Put bubs on your shoulder and pat/rub their back, most times they'll burp. It becomes easier to notice this slight discoloration after a few months and with practice.

3. Use a cover on the pram

Always be prepared for weather changes when having a pram outing. Invest in a rain/wind and a sun/shade protector. They also help keep the sticky little flies and mosquitoes away from baby.

4. Pacifier positives and negatives.

There has been a lot said about the positives and negatives of pacifier. If you can get away with your baby not having one then go for it. If on the other hand the baby settles better with a pacifier then use it.

Don't confuse giving the pacifier, with them actually needing a feed though. Sometimes a baby wants to explore with their hands and mouth so a pacifier can be a disadvantage.

Don't worry what your friends and relations think, if bubs is happy with a pacifier then you are likely to be happier and get more sleep.

5. Use barrier creams to prevent diaper rash

By using a barrier cream when you notice the area a little red, you can minimize the chance of nasty nappy rash.

6. Teething

The teething process can be painful for bubs. Try rubbing their gums with your finger. Water filled teething rings can be put in the fridge (the freezer is too cold) and the cold can be soothing. Teething gels should be used conservatively. Teething rusks can be used but generally not until from six to eight months should they be used.
